Life

  • In Paris for most of the year.
  • Villa meets Andres Segovia for the first time, at a party in Paris given by Olga de Moraes Sarmento.  Segovia tells the story in "I meet Villa-Lobos," Guitar Review, no. 22, 1958, pp. 22-23.
  • Conducts his own music in Lisbon in March and Brussels in April.
  • May 30: an important concert of Villa's works is given at the Salle des Agriculteurs by Arthur Rubinstein, Vera Janacopulos, and Joao de Souza Lima.  The programme includes Quatuor symbolique, Prole do Bebe #1, Epigrammas ironicos, Pensees d'Enfant, and the Nonetto.
  • Villa returns to Brazil in October.


Works

  • Choros #2, for flute and clarinet.  Dedicated to Mario de Andrade.  Written in Rio in 1924, this work received its first performance on Feburary 18, 1925.
  • A piano version of Choros #2 was written by the composer in 1924.
  • Choros #7 "Setemino" (Max Eschig).  Dedicated to Dr. Arnaldo Guinle.  Received its first performance on September 17, 1925.
