Cello Sonata #1 (score lost)

Appleby Catalogue W number:

The score for the first cello sonata is lost.  According to Villa-Lobos: Sua Obra (1989), the work was 12 minutes long, and the movements are:

  1. Allegro non troppo
  2. Adagia
  3. Allegro final

Surprisingly, Appleby (1988) doesn't list this as a lost score, but as a work published by Max Eschig.  I haven't seen any reference to a score, or to any performances or recordings.

This is one of the lost works that might have actually been written, rather than imagined, by Villa-Lobos.  He listed it as "op. 30" in one of the lists he made of his works.
