Cânticos Sertanejos

Category:

Cânticos Sertanejos, for flute, clarinet, and strings, is a work from 1907.  It was recently (November 2010) played for the first time, at the Festival Villa-Lobos, conducted by its editor, Roberto Duarte.  See this post at The Villa-Lobos Magazine for the first page of the score, and the story behind this work's re-discovery.

Femina (lost score)

Category:

The opera "Femina" doesn't appear in Villa-Lobos: Sua Obras, or in Appleby (1989).  Nor is it included any of the lists of lost scores that I've seen.  But according to Simon Wright, in his programme note for the 1989 South Bank production of Yerma,

Cello Sonata #1 (score lost)

Category:

The score for the first cello sonata is lost.  According to Villa-Lobos: Sua Obra (1989), the work was 12 minutes long, and the movements are:

  1. Allegro non troppo
  2. Adagia
  3. Allegro final

Surprisingly, Appleby (1988) doesn't list this as a lost score, but as a work published by Max Eschig.  I haven't seen any reference to a score, or to any performances or recordings.
